Why are your fire fighters politically active?

The Sacramento Area Fire Fighters Union IAFF Local 522 takes our sworn duty to keep the communities we serve safe seriously. We represent 1,900 fire fighters from eight different agencies, including Sacramento Fire, Sacramento Metro Fire, Cosumnes Fire, West Sacramento Fire, Folsom Fire, Sacramento County Airport Fire, South Placer Fire, and Lincoln Fire. The priority of each of our members is to keep the residents, businesses, and visitors of those communities safe each and every day.

Every decision concerning the resources directed toward public safety is ultimately made by elected officials, and, as the experts in public safety, our union must educate these officials on the gravity of their decisions. Our union advocates for the fire service to ensure your hometown emergency responders have the tools they need to do their jobs efficiently, effectively, and safely. In short, we support candidates who support public safety.
